2nd Time Around: 10 Things I will do Differently with our New Baby

Our little girl took us by surprise and arrived two weeks earlier than anticipated which meant that I ended up missing my last day of work and starting my maternity leave earlier than expected.  I was going to have a couple of weeks to get myself sorted and prepare for her birth whilst spending as much one on one time as possible with our son.  As so often happens in life, events didn’t quite go to plan so I was left hurriedly buying some newborn sleepsuits on the way to hospital!

Looking back at the time around our son’s birth I feel I learned a lot from the choices I made in the early days, especially during my maternity leave. There are a few things that I would like to approach in a different way this time.

Bluestone Resort: Our Free Range Family Adventure

We booked our trip to Bluestone early in 2017 having heard from some friends about it’s existence and about how good it is for families.  They have returned to Bluestone with their son for the last 3 years and after hearing of their recommendation we decided to book a break in October 2017 which happily coincided with their next stay.

Part of the reason we wanted to go in October was to tie it in with my husbands and my birthdays at the start of October and with Z having another year before starting school we thought we would take advantage of an out of school holiday break.

At the time of booking we didn’t know I would be 34 weeks pregnant when we stayed at the resort.

Trust me!

Those baby teeth are precious and a whole host of problems can develop if they are not looked after from birth.

I have a 2 year old son who is strong willed, high energy, tenacious and loud. He never walks anywhere but prefers to run everywhere instead. He hates to be restrained and he makes A LOT of noise! He is exhausting!

To many people he is a ‘naughty child.’ He doesn’t listen, he rarely does as he’s asked and he laughs when I raise my voice.

My Idea of a Perfect Mother’s Day

Ahhhh, Mothers Day.  I have fond memories of the homemade cards I presented to my mum when I was at primary school and she always looked delighted to receive my colourful splodges. When I got  a bit older I even used my pocket money to buy her a box of chocolates and a bunch of carnations.

Now, as a mum myself I have my own idea of what a perfect mother’s day would involve and surprisingly, it wouldn’t cost the earth!

Ten tips to reduce screentime and get some time for the things you ‘don’t have time for’

Whether it’s in our pocket, our bag or even in another room it is usually within easy reach and constantly demanding our attention. Phones have really taken over our lives and in many ways are hugely beneficial to us but they are also sapping our time.

Have you ever said “I don’t have time for that today” and yet have you paid attention to how much time has then been spent on social media watching humorous gifs, playing mindless games or reading articles that have not actually benefitted you in any way? I know I have.
